WORLD POPULATION DAY
Food, shelter & clothing are three basic needs of mankind. Human beings exploit nature to fulfil their needs and mother Earth supports her children in their venture, however mother Earth has been feeling stressed out offlate while shouldering her responsibilities. Thus it is the moral duty of human beings to address the issue of population explosion on urgent basis. In view of this, United Nations celebrates international world population day every year on 11 th July.
We the team of ‘WamanraoMuranjan Junior College of Science & Commerce’ always believe that teaching & learning process is not just confined to assessing students on the basis of marks scored in exams but it is also about making students aware of social issues and provoke their thought process for seeking solutions of these social issues.
As population explosion and balance of environment go hand in hand , EVS department of our college celebrates World Population Day every year. This year it was celebtrated in virtual mode on 31 st July 2021.
Participant students had painted posters which highlighted consequences of skyrocketing population on environmental resources. Powerpoint presentations of students depicted about causes of surge in population and means to control it. Video made by students sensitized students about today’s burning issue of ever increasing population, its grave effects and urgent need for awareness in people to give a thought about it.
This event was conducted smoothly and it’s real success lies in students getting inspiration for coming forward to protect our mother Earth.
